The Arkansas Lost and Found Pet Network is a statewide organization and was founded with one purpose in mind: to use the power of technology and social networks to reunite lost pets with their families. It has grown over the years to an organization of nearly 30 volunteers that receive thousands of submissions each month from humans who have lost or found pets.
I was personally touched by this group many years ago when my yorkie, Lewis, went missing over the Thanksgiving holiday while we were out of town and he was staying with a dear friend. Lewis, a very timid and very dependent pup, roamed the streets of West Little Rock for four whole days. Luckily, another kind soul found Lewis and contacted me through the group. It was then that I decided to join the group of volunteers and do my part to help reunite these animals. I designed alfpetnetwork.com, which is connected heavily to Facebook, where a majority of the submissions come in. We have volunteers behind the scenes who work with responding to submissions and verifying/approving those submissions.
